About the Role:
Are you passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our team in Birmingham. As a SEN TA, you will play a crucial role in providing one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them overcome challenges and reach their academic potential. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities – as a SEND Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will:
• Provide One-on-One and Small Group Support: Work with students with SEND, offering tailored support to meet their individual needs, both academically and socially.
• Assist in Lesson Delivery: Support the teacher in implementing lessons, helping students engage with the learning materials and encouraging their participation.
• Behaviour Support: Help manage classroom behaviour, implementing positive reinforcement strategies to encourage a productive learning environment.
• Personal Care and Support: Assist students with daily activities where necessary, ensuring their personal care and well-being needs are met.
• Monitor Student Progress: Observe and track the progress of SEND students, providing feedback to the teacher and contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Promote Inclusion: Ensure that SEND students are fully included in classroom activities and social interactions, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
Person Specification:
• Qualifications: Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Experience working with SEND students is a plus.
• Skills: Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of students.
• Experience: Experience working with children with SEND, or a strong desire to work in this area, is ideal.
• Other Requirements: Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
