Are you a confident communicator with a passion for English and a desire to support students in their academic growth? A dynamic secondary school in Bolton is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic English Cover Supervisor to join their team. This full-time role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to gain valuable classroom experience—whether you’re considering a future in teaching or looking to build on your existing skills in education.
As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll be stepping into the classroom to deliver pre-set English lessons during teacher absences. You’ll ensure lessons run smoothly, manage student behaviour effectively, and keep students engaged with the material. While you won’t be expected to plan or mark work, your confidence in classroom management and ability to encourage participation will be essential to creating a productive learning environment.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need *5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A to C)**, including English and Maths, and ideally some previous experience in a UK school or similar educational setting. While it’s not required, having a Level 2 or 3 certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, Cover Supervision, or a PGCE would be an advantage. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one, is a must. Above all, we’re looking for someone with great energy, patience, a strong understanding of English, and a good sense of humour to connect with students.
