Are you enthusiastic about English and confident in your ability to lead a classroom? We are looking for an English Cover Supervisor to join a dynamic secondary school in Tameside. This full-time role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students and eager to play a vital role in their educational journey. As an English Cover Supervisor, you will be delivering pre-prepared English lessons in the absence of the regular class teacher. Your focus will be on maintaining engagement, supporting learning, and managing classroom behaviour. With a strong understanding of English language and literature, you’ll help ensure continuity of education and provide a stable environment that promotes academic success.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one), and experience working in a UK school or a similar setting. You should hold 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English and Maths. While not essential, qualifications such as a Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools, Level 3 Certificate in Cover Supervision, or even a PGCE would be beneficial. What truly matters is your ability to manage a classroom confidently, communicate effectively, and approach each day with energy, patience, and humour.
