We’re seeking a dedicated Maths Cover Supervisor to join a thriving secondary school in Tameside. This full-time opportunity is perfect for someone with strong classroom presence and a keen interest in mathematics, ready to take on a key support role within the teaching team.
As a Maths Cover Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for delivering pre-set Maths lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher, maintaining order, supporting student learning, and managing behaviour effectively. While you won’t be expected to plan lessons, your ability to engage students and maintain a positive, focused classroom environment will be crucial to the success of this role. A sense of humour, patience, and energy are essential qualities that help you connect with students and keep learning on track.
To be successful in this role, you must be available full-time, have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one), and possess at least 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English and Maths. Experience in UK schools or similar settings is essential. While it’s not mandatory, having completed a Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools, a Level 3 Certificate in Cover Supervision, or even a PGCE, would be a great advantage. Most importantly, you should have a strong grasp of maths content and excellent classroom management skills.
