Are you enthusiastic about science and eager to share your knowledge while gaining hands-on experience in the classroom? A forward-thinking secondary school in Manchester is seeking a reliable and engaging Science Cover Supervisor to support student learning during teacher absences. This full-time opportunity is ideal for individuals looking to step into education, especially those considering a future in teaching or looking to grow within a school setting.
As a Cover Supervisor, your role will involve delivering pre-prepared science lessons, managing classroom behaviour, and ensuring students stay engaged and on task. While you won’t be expected to plan or assess work, your presence will be key in maintaining a positive learning environment. A strong understanding of science concepts, excellent communication skills, and confidence in classroom management will be essential to support students across biology, chemistry, and physics lessons.
To be considered for this role, you’ll need *5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A to C)**, including English and Maths. Experience in a UK school setting is preferred, though not essential. It’s also desirable—but not required—that you have completed a Level 2 or 3 qualification in school support, such as the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or a PGCE. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is a must. Most importantly, you should bring great energy, patience, a strong grasp of science, and a sense of humour to connect with and motivate students.
