Are you a compassionate and resilient individual ready to make a real difference in the lives of young people? We are looking for a full-time SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated secondary school team in Bury. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with students who require additional support, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. If you have previous experience in a UK school or a similar structured setting, along with a passion for working with young people, this could be the perfect next step in your career.
The ideal candidate will possess literacy and numeracy qualifications at GCSE grade C or above and have basic ICT skills for tasks like simple word processing. A strong commitment to professional development and a flexible approach to working hours, including occasional attendance at academy events, are essential. Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), good oral communication skills, and a strong understanding of the challenges that might impact learning and inclusion are highly desirable. You must be able to use your own initiative, be discreet when handling sensitive matters, and show a commitment to promoting equal opportunities and diversity.
In this role, you will support students both inside and outside the classroom, working closely with teachers to deliver personalised learning and provide administrative support to departments as needed. You’ll need to be flexible, calm under pressure, and capable of building strong, supportive relationships with a diverse range of young people. Your ability to inspire, motivate, and manage behaviour sensitively and respectfully will be key in creating a nurturing environment where every student feels valued and capable of success.
If you are driven by the desire to make a lasting impact, have strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrate honesty, integrity, and a positive, can-do attitude, we would love to hear from you. An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is preferred, though we welcome candidates willing to obtain one. Join a forward-thinking team in Bury and help shape the future for students who need support the most. Rate: £85.04-above per day
