We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time role in a welcoming primary school in Huddersfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, assisting with learning and personal development.
Work closely with classroom teachers to deliver tailored support and interventions.
Provide care and encouragement to pupils with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, Down syndrome, EAL, speech and language difficulties, visual or hearing impairments, and trauma-related challenges.
Offer personal care support when required.
Contribute to children’s early development and overall progress.
Manage and support challenging behaviour confidently and appropriately.
Work with pupils in PRU settings where applicable.
Requirements:
Previous classroom-based experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant in UK primary schools.
SEND Diploma or equivalent qualification.
Knowledge and awareness of various additional needs, including autism, SEMH, and communication disorders.
Experience supporting children with learning disabilities and developmental challenges.
Proactive, reliable, and committed to making a positive impact.
Full-time availability, Monday to Friday.
Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
