We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Oldham. The role involves supporting children with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, Down Syndrome, Dyslexia, EAL, Hearing Impairments, Speech & Language Communication Needs, Visual Impairments, Trauma, and more.
Role Overview:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide 1:1 support and work with small groups of children across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
• Support children with learning disabilities and other additional needs
• Assist with personal care and help children through transitions
• Work closely with the classroom teacher to deliver tailored learning
• Be involved in early development, growth, and the promotion of self-esteem
• Manage challenging behaviour and create a safe, supportive learning environment
• Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere that promotes independence
Requirements:
• Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant in a UK classroom
• SEND Diploma or relevant qualification
• Experience working with children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning needs
• Ability to manage personal care and support students with various disabilities
• Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
• Preferably driving for transport to the school
• A proactive, hardworking, and committed approach to supporting students
